Jilli Martini is a well-known Comox Valley singer/performer, fronting the duo, trio or full band. Jill and her various groups can deliver a solid dance- party band, guaranteed to rock your event, but can also be the laid back acoustic show of favourite tunes up, close and personal. Either way, you will be swept away with the ‘feel good’ energy as they entertain you. Lead vocalist, Jilli Martini, can belt out a rock tune or sweetly serenade a gentle ballad. She has a wide vocal range- from clear and pure to deep, gritty and raspy. Jills love of singing is apparent when she delivers each song with passion and conviction, captivating audiences of all ages and musical tastes.
Jill began performing later in her life, after raising her children. Her busy life as a mother was only part of the reason she waited to embarked on her music. Some of her stumbling blocks were that she was shy about singing in public, her lack of support and opportunities. She began by attending the annual Hornby Island Blues Camp while living on Hornby. Even though the camps were only a few days a year, she attributes her breakthrough (which was a slow process) to the positive experience she gained from these workshops and incredibly supportive and talented instructors. She pushed through the fear and started taking to the stage in 2006, participating in open mics and networking with fellow musicians by going to various 'jams' locally. Jill is extremely grateful to all the musicians and mentors that she has had the pleasure to work with, and learn so much from. Their patience and skills were extremely instrumental in her emergence as a singer and attributed to her growth as a performer. She continues to learn as that process never ends!
Currently, Jill is picking up her guitar trying to improve her skills. She also has also began to try the ukulele, which has proven to be quite fun. She is trying her hand at songwriting and working on incorporating some originals into her repertoire. Jill also loves to help facilitate opportunities for others to pursue their musical goals and dreams, coaching and mentoring other budding musicians of all ages. As she regrets not starting her musical path sooner, it thrills her to help others come out of their musical shell. Fortunately Jill Martini busted through it, and is helping others do the same!
